Cebu City, Philippines – October 2024
dpSun Ltd is pleased to announce its collaboration with the University of San Carlos (USC) in Cebu City to support renewable energy development and address electricity access challenges in the Philippines. Based in the UK and established in 2014, dpSun Ltd is engaged in projects, products, and consultancy focused on grid stabilisation, energy storage systems, renewable energy, and sustainable solar electrification. dpSun Ltd is providing essential technical expertise to help local governments and distribution utilities develop and implement energy plans and renewable energy (RE) roadmaps. dpSun Ltd is also a winner of Innovate UK’s Ze-Gen Accelerator programme 2024, which aims to develop renewable alternatives to fossil fuel generators in Nigeria and the Philippines.
This partnership follows dpSun’s recent engagement as a technical advisor on a pre-feasibility study for a 10 MWp solar farm on one of the country’s larger off-grid islands. The project is intended to support rural communities facing persistent electricity issues, including unreliable power supply and dependence on fossil fuels.
Sergio Cardamas, Managing Director of dpSun Ltd, shared: “We are proud to be part of Innovate UK’s Ze-Gen programme and committed to working closely with local governments, universities, companies and distribution utilities in the Philippines. Our goal is to offer advanced technical solutions that address the country’s renewable energy needs, providing cleaner, more reliable power for communities in remote areas.”
Engr. Isabelo Rabuya of USC’s Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration: “With dpSun’s expertise and USC’s local knowledge, we are well-positioned to develop effective energy plans and RE roadmaps. Together, we aim to enhance off-grid electrification projects, improving electricity access for many underserved communities.”
dpSun’s participation in the Ze-Gen Accelerator programme highlights the company’s dedication to advancing zero-emission generation technologies. Through collaboration with the University of San Carlos and distribution utilities, dpSun aims to lead the transition to renewable energy in the Philippines, empowering rural areas with sustainable power solutions.
