As part of its Nationally Determined Contribution under the Paris Agreement, Botswana is committed to reduce 15% in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030, with the energy sector having a higher contribution. Hence, the Government of Botswana plans to integrate renewable energy into its energy system. Together with the support of various bodies, Botswana has come up with different strategies in support of a sustainable energy sector. The country targets to have renewable energy contribution
of 50% by March 2036. Achievement of these goals not only requires a supportive regulatory system, but the participation and development of key players to implement projects towards the realisation of these goals. To help stimulate the transition to a sustainable economy BIUST, Centre for Entrepreneurship in collaboration with the Sustainable Energy Research Group, is organising this webinar.
The event aims to share insightful knowledge about the potential of renewable energy and other low-carbon technologies in Botswana and present entrepreneurial opportunities that can encourage and create new jobs. Therefore, the webinar brings together Academics, Renewable Energy experts and diplomatic leaders with BIUST alumni and BIUST students.
